A struggling young writer walks out on his life in London and moves back to his family home in the Gloucestershire countryside. Secluding himself in one of the outbuildings opposite his parents’ house, he clings to his literary ambitions and tries to hide the anxiety he feels, until a visit from his younger sister brings everything to the surface—both his own demons and those of his affluent, high-achieving family.

Jack has two lives ‐ the life that goes with his family and academic career, and the life that goes with Samantha, a free-spirited photojournalist and Jack's mistress. All hangs in a delicate but stable balance until Samantha announces she is leaving the country.
A burnt out, disenchanted architect living alone on Manhattan Beach, meets a beautiful, enigmatic, young woman in a bar. They continue on to a nightclub where the woman offers the architect a glimpse of happiness - though all is not what it seems.
A young location scout, looking for the setting for a horror film, visits an isolated, semi-ruined Victorian mansion in the Gloucestershire countryside. Walking from room to room with the mansion's caretaker he is captivated, firstly by the rich history and architecture of the building, then by the caretaker’s own life story, and soon forgets the initial purpose of his visit.
Fixated on a recent breakup, a young man takes a train journey to clear his head. He travels the country from north to south to meet his sister, though his melancholy proves hard to escape.
